Creating an account, signing in, or using the Application constitutes acceptance of these Terms and of the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Application; you can delete your account at any time from Settings.
1. Preamble & Acceptance
This End User License Agreement ("Terms") is concluded between you (the "User") and Vasilis Savvas Papagrigoriou, natural person — independent developer, based in Rhodes (postal code 85101), Hellenic Republic (the "Provider"), contact: vasilispapg@outlook.com.
The Terms are permanently available at this page. The current version and its effective date are shown above; amendments are made only as described in Section 13.
2. Age & Minors
The Application's content is family-friendly. The official age rating is the one shown on the Application's App Store / Google Play listing at any given time — it is determined by the stores' questionnaires and may differ per platform (e.g. because ads are shown). Creating an account requires legal capacity; minors may use the Application only with the consent and under the supervision of their legal guardians, who are responsible for that use. Age limits for the processing of personal data are described in the Privacy Policy.
The Application offers optional paid content (Section 6). Guardians are strongly encouraged to use the platform parental controls — "Ask to Buy" on Apple devices, purchase authentication and Family Link on Google Play — to prevent unintended purchases by minors.
3. License & Account
The Provider grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use the Application for private, non-commercial purposes. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
- The account is personal. It may not be sold, rented, transferred or systematically shared.
- You are responsible for maintaining control of the email account you use to sign in.
- Usernames and profile images must not be offensive, misleading, or infringe third-party rights. The Provider may require a change or reset them, with notice where feasible.
4. Fair Play & Prohibited Conduct
The following are prohibited:
- Cheating of any kind: automation, scripted play, tampering with the application or its network traffic.
- Knowingly exploiting bugs or malfunctions — including exploits of the reward or Gem economy. If you discover a bug, please report it in-app or by email.
- Creating or coordinating multiple accounts to farm rewards or manipulate rankings and matchmaking.
- Harassing or offensive behavior towards other players, including through a username or profile.
- Interfering with the operation of the service, unauthorized access, scraping or bulk extraction of content.
Enforcement is proportionate to the severity and frequency of the violation: warning, temporary restriction of features, temporary suspension, or — for serious or repeated violations — permanent termination (Section 11). Rewards or Gems obtained through cheating or bug abuse may be removed so that balances are restored to their lawful state. You may contest any measure by contacting vasilispapg@outlook.com.
5. Advertising
The free version of the Application is funded by advertising. Two formats are used today: interstitial ads shown between games, subject to frequency limits, and optional rewarded videos that you actively choose to watch in exchange for in-game rewards (Gems). Advertising formats, frequency and providers may change as the service evolves.
- The VIP subscription removes interstitial ads (Section 6.1). Rewarded videos remain available as an option, since they only ever play at your request.
- Whether ads are personalized depends on the consent you give in the in-app consent form and on your device settings — see the Privacy Policy.
6. Virtual Currency (Gems) & In-App Store
The Application includes an in-app store with digital items: powerups, game aids, profile frames, chat phrase packs and seasonal category packs, obtained with the virtual currency "Gems".
- How Gems are obtained: free of charge through gameplay (e.g. welcome bonus, completing quizzes, streaks, achievements, optional rewarded ads) and, optionally, through real-money purchases of Gem bundles (Section 7).
- Nature of Gems and items: they constitute a limited license to use digital content within the Application. They have no monetary value outside it, are not transferable between accounts and cannot be redeemed for money.
- Pricing: the current Gem price of every item is displayed before each purchase. Prices, availability and composition of items or Gem bundles may change for future purchases; content already delivered to you is not affected.
- Balance corrections: in the event of a technical error, abuse (Section 4), or a refund/annulment of a real-money purchase by the store, the corresponding Gems or items may be removed. A balance is never reduced below zero.
- Seasonal packs: their availability window and content are stated on the pack card before purchase.
6.1. Auto-Renewing Subscription (VIP)
The Application offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Gnostis VIP, sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play, where available on each platform.
- Title & duration: Gnostis VIP — one (1) month, auto-renewing.
- Price: the current price and billing period are shown on the purchase screen before you confirm; your Apple/Google account is charged in your local currency.
- Benefits: while active, VIP currently includes: no interstitial ads, free daily board dice, +50% board score, VIP-only gem chests on the board, a 45% discount on seasonal packs purchased with Gems, larger offline question packs, the golden token and the VIP badge. The exact list is shown on the purchase screen; benefits cease when the subscription lapses or is cancelled. Any material reduction of benefits is announced per Section 13 and takes effect from a subsequent renewal.
- Auto-renewal: the subscription renews automatically for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least twenty-four (24) hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- Cancellation & management: you can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your Apple App Store / Google Play account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current, already-started period.
- Refunds: payments and refunds are processed by Apple/Google under their respective store policies; the Provider does not control store-side refunds.
- Price changes: any change to the subscription price takes effect on a future renewal and, where the store requires it, only after your consent.
7. Purchases, Payment & Right of Withdrawal
- All real-money purchases are carried out through the Apple App Store or Google Play. The total price, including VAT, is displayed in your local currency before you confirm. The Provider never receives your payment card details.
- Digital content (Gems, packs, VIP) is delivered immediately upon confirmation of the purchase by the store.
- Right of withdrawal (EU): for digital content, the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal lapses once performance has begun with your express consent and your acknowledgment of the loss of that right — this consent is collected in the store's purchase flow. Where the right still applies, you exercise it through the store (Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com · Google Play: refund request), which is also where refund requests are handled under the stores' policies.
- If a purchase is refunded or annulled by the store, the corresponding Gems, items or VIP entitlement are removed from the account (Section 6).
- Your statutory rights regarding conformity of digital content and services — Directive (EU) 2019/770, transposed in Greece by Law 4967/2022 — remain unaffected by these Terms.
8. Simulated Players (Bots)
So that a game is always available, even at hours of low traffic, certain modes include computer-controlled participants ("bots"):
- The explicit "vs Bot" practice mode, where the opponent is always a bot.
- Ranked matchmaking may pair you with a bot when no human opponent is found within a short waiting time. These matches follow the same rules, entry fees and rewards as matches against human players.
- The daily word game leaderboard also contains simulated entries.
- Activity and presence indicators (e.g. "players online") may include an estimate of simulated activity.
Simulated opponents and leaderboard entries are marked as such where they appear in the interface. Bots never purchase content and hold no real money.
9. AI-Generated Content
The trivia questions, answers, explanations and their category assignments are generated and verified through Artificial Intelligence systems, with additional automated and manual checks. Despite this curation, errors or inaccuracies may occur. The content is provided for entertainment purposes and does not constitute educational, professional or other advice; the Provider does not warrant its scientific, historical or factual accuracy.
You can report a problematic question through the in-app report option; reports are reviewed and corrections are applied to the question catalog.
10. Intellectual Property
The source code, graphics, UI elements, question databases, distinctive signs and overall design of Gnostis are the exclusive property of Vasilis Savvas Papagrigoriou and are protected by law. Reverse engineering, scraping, bulk extraction of questions and reproduction of substantial parts of the databases are prohibited.
Sharing screenshots or short clips of the Application for personal, non-commercial purposes is permitted — and welcome.
11. Availability, Changes & Termination
The service is provided "as available". The Provider makes reasonable efforts for continuous operation, but interruptions may occur (maintenance, technical failures, third-party outages). Features may evolve, change or be discontinued; for any material removal of functionality linked to paid content, and for any permanent discontinuation of the service, reasonable advance notice will be given through the Application or the website, where feasible.
11.1. Account deletion by you
You can permanently delete your account from Settings. Deletion is irreversible: progress, Gems, items, packs and the Application-side record of a VIP entitlement are deleted. Deleting the account does not cancel an active store subscription — cancel the subscription first in your Apple / Google Play account settings, otherwise the store will continue charging you while the benefits can no longer be delivered.
11.2. Suspension or termination by the Provider
In case of violation of these Terms, measures are taken in proportion to the violation (Section 4); in serious cases immediate suspension or termination is possible. Upon termination due to a serious violation, Gems and items are forfeited to the extent permitted by mandatory law. You may contest a measure at vasilispapg@outlook.com.
12. Warranties & Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by mandatory law, the Application is provided "as is" and "as available", without further warranties.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the Provider's liability for intent or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law; nor are the statutory rights of consumers affected — including the rights on conformity of digital content (Section 7).
In all other respects, the Provider's aggregate liability for damages connected to the use of the Application is limited to the total amounts you paid for the Application during the twelve (12) months preceding the event. The Provider is not liable for the operation of the Apple / Google stores and payment systems, for network failures, or for force majeure.
13. Changes to these Terms
The Provider may amend these Terms for legitimate reasons — indicatively: legislative or regulatory changes, new or modified features, security needs. Each new version is published on this page with a new version number and effective date.
For material changes, notice is given a reasonable time in advance through the Application or the website (or by email). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new version; if you do not agree, you can stop using the Application and delete your account. No amendment retroactively removes digital content already delivered to you, except as required by law.
14. Governing Law, Jurisdiction & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by Greek law. Competent courts are the courts of Athens, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection provisions that establish the jurisdiction of the courts of the consumer's residence.
Before any judicial action, we encourage you to contact vasilispapg@outlook.com — most issues are resolved quickly. Consumers residing in Greece may also address the Consumer Ombudsman (www.synigoroskatanaloti.gr), an independent alternative dispute resolution body, or the General Secretariat of Commerce and Consumer Protection.
15. Final Provisions
- Severability: if a term is held invalid, the remaining terms remain in force; the invalid term is replaced by the valid rule closest to its purpose.
- No waiver: failure to enforce a term does not constitute a waiver of it.
- Assignment: the Provider may assign this agreement to a successor of the Application, with notice to the Users; the User may not assign it.
- Languages: in case of divergence between the Greek and the English text, the Greek version prevails.
